What's In Season: Cherries
Summer is officially here—and with it comes a sweet milestone: six months of our What’s in Season series! To celebrate both the season and our half-year mark, we’re spotlighting one of our absolute favorite summer ingredients: cherries.
There’s just something special about cherries. Maybe it’s the way their bold, tart flavor instantly evokes memories of hot days and cool treats. Or maybe it’s how fleeting their season feels—making them all the more treasured when they’re ripe and ready.
This month, we’re teaming up again with Tum Tum to feature a cherry-filled creation that feels like sunshine on a plate: June Cake. This showstopper is a delicate pistachio chiffon cake layered with bright cherry compote and finished with a salted sweet cream buttercream. Tessa of Tum Tum shares:
“Cherry picking is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. Nothing beats a fresh cherry right off the tree. Cherries can be a mess to cook with, but they’re totally worth it.”
And what better way to toast the season than with a refreshing drink in hand? Our June signature cocktail is the Boozy Cherry Limeade—a tart, tangy, and perfectly spiked sip that pairs beautifully with the cake’s nutty, fruity layers.
Ingredients
Tart Cherry Juice
Honey
Limeade
Lime juice
Vodka
Soda water
Directions
In a larger mixer add
1/2 cup of tart cherry juice
2 tablespoons of honey
2 oz of lime juice
4 oz of vodka
½ cup limeade
Stir
Rim cup with sugar and Fill cup with ice
Pour mix in
Top with soda water
lime slices + cherries for garnish
