We may be a little biased, but after years of planning weddings in the Pacific Northwest, Washington holds a special place in our hearts. From the dramatic coastlines to charming towns and incredible vineyards, it’s full of hidden gems that make for an unforgettable honeymoon. Today, we’re sharing a few of our favorite spots—as well as local tips from our sweet friend and talented Seattle-based photographer, Chelsea Abril.

Our Must-Stay Honeymoon Picks in Washington

Sagecliffe Resort & Spa + Cave B Estate Winery – Quincy, WA

This one is an absolute showstopper. Set on the cliffs above the Columbia River Gorge, Sagecliffe feels otherworldly in the best way. With sweeping views, a dreamy vineyard next door, and stunning sunsets, it’s ideal for couples who want a slower pace, spa moments, and scenic wine tastings.

Captain Whidbey – Whidbey Island, WA

A truly one-of-a-kind stay. This historic inn has been lovingly restored and is nestled along Penn Cove with the most peaceful surroundings. Think cozy fireplaces, curated design, and a blend of rugged PNW beauty with boutique charm. It’s the perfect hideaway for couples who want a balance of exploration and total relaxation.

PostHotel – Leavenworth, WA

Looking for European romance without the long flight? PostHotel is a luxury, adults-only spa retreat in the Bavarian-inspired town of Leavenworth. From world-class spa experiences to serene river views and candlelit dinners, it’s one of the most indulgent spots for a honeymoon that feels like a true escape.

Local Honeymoon Tips from Chelsea Abril

We asked our friend Chelsea—photographer, PNW explorer, and Seattle local—for her favorite romantic things to do in Washington. Her recommendations are gold:

“As someone who moved to Washington from Hawaii, some of my fave things to do in Washington for a romantic getaway or honeymoon weekend are to:

Escape to the coast and spend a day on one of the endless stretches of Pacific Coast beaches (very different from Hawaii, but just as beautiful in their own way), and rent a cozy Airbnb or cabin nearby.

I don’t drink much wine, but many of my clients love going vineyard hopping! There are amazing options around the Columbia River Gorge.

If you love the energy and bustle of the city, book a stay in downtown Seattle. The Edgewater Hotel literally sits right on the water, with views of the Puget Sound that are stunning at sunset.

For something a little more elevated, check out the Four Seasons, Fairmont Olympic, or the chic boutique vibes of Lotte Hotel or Hotel Theodore. Hotel Max is another fun pick (though rooms are a bit smaller—it’s still super cute!).

Seattle’s waterfront has undergone a huge transformation since the viaduct came down—it’s now fully walkable, modern, and full of live music, piers, and even a new pedestrian bridge connecting Pike Place Market straight to the water with unreal views.

Want a more music-filled experience? Time your honeymoon with a concert at the Gorge Amphitheatre. It’s hard to beat the vibe: great music, incredible views, and resort options like Sagecliffe right next door. Or book a modern modular Airbnb with a hot tub and grill for your own private oasis.”
