5 Ways to Honor your Dad on Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is a great way to celebrate and thank the people who shaped and supported you along the way–and including special moments with your dad is a heartfelt way to make the day even that much more memorable.

A Father-Daughter First Look
First Looks have become a popular way to share those giddy and emotional first moments when you first see your partner before your ceremony, but we’d like to think that your father would be equally as anxious to see you before you walk down the aisle. Having a First Look with your father is not only an adorable photo-op, but also a wonderful way to share a couple of private moments together before you say “I do.”
Arrive Together
Riding together is another way to have a couple of private moments together before the ceremony. Give him a chance to share some advice, simply spend some time, or talk through your possible wedding jitters together.
Write Him a Letter
Whether he’s sentimental or not, finding a letter from you in his suit pocket will be a touching way to thank him for all that he’s done and to reassure him that you know you’re in good hands. We promise he will cherish that letter whenever he finds it on your wedding day and for the rest of his life.
Save a Special Place for Him in your “Thank You” Speech
This may be a given, but when there are so many different vendors and people you have to thank, it’s easy to forget to spend a little extra time to shout out the people that shaped you into the person you are today! Take some time to write out the part of your “Thank You” speech to your dad, mom, and other important members of your family so that when you inevitably get caught up in the moment, you say exactly what you want to say.
Dedicate a Special Song to Him
Is there a special song that reminds you of that one time your dad took you on a memorable trip? Or a song that he used to play all the time that you eventually added to your own playlists because it reminded you of him? Ask your DJ to dedicate a special song to your dad that you know he will have to get on the dance floor for.
