Wedding Day Pampering 101: Waxing Q + A with Aphrodite’s House of Beauty

When did you start AH Beauty and what inspired you to create this brand?

I started Aphrodite’s House of Beauty back in October 2020. The inspiration to start my brand was to get away from big corporations that feel like doctors offices and create a place that feels warm and welcoming where anyone is welcome to pamper themselves.

What are your tips on how to prep for your waxing session?

A great way to prep for your wax is to exfoliate the areas that are getting waxed. Exfoliating will help remove the dead skin on the surface of your body so the hairs will come out easier.

Any pro after-care tips?

A couple of tips to follow is make sure you exfoliate the waxed areas at least 2-3 times a week as well as using Fur Oil to soften the hairs, keep the area moisturized and prevent ingrown hairs. Also avoid the beach, pool, soaking in the tub, working out and sexual activity for 24 hours after your wax.

What do you wish people knew about waxing?

That it is so worth it! Although waxing can feel uncomfortable the results are all so worth the process. The hardest part is growing out your hairs long enough to get waxed, which is 2-3 weeks.

What type of wax do you use?

At Aphrodite’s we use mermaid wax which is a hard wax. It is super gentle on the skin and rarely leaves you red after. If you do get a little pinkish red it’ll go away within the hour.

Any pro bridal waxing advice?

Make sure to get at least 3 wax sessions in before your wedding to make sure all of your hairs are on the same growth cycle if you’re coming from shaving. For those who are already waxing make sure to schedule your wax at least 2 days prior to allow the skin to rest so you can enjoy your day.

What’s your favorite part about providing your services to brides?

My favorite part of providing my services to brides is to be able to make them feel beautiful and confident on their day. There’s nothing better than feeling sexy, hairless and not having to worry about picking up a razor for at least 2 weeks!
