Our Top Must Haves At An Outdoor Wedding

Did you know that about 90% of our weddings happen at outdoor wedding venues? We have been become pros at navigating the ins and outs of all logistics related to having your wedding outdoors! From rentals, catering, service staff, design considerations, bug spray, and more… we know there’s so much that goes into handcrafting a wedding in an outdoor space.

Here are our top must haves for your outdoor wedding:

Quality Rentals:

Typically in an outdoor wedding we are bringing in all of the necessary rentals- from the tent, tables, chairs, and more. Investing in a rental company that can provide quality products can set up a strong foundation for the day. Making sure that the rental company is familiar with the venue site and is aware of any setup requirements and restrictions is also vital.

A few rentals we feel are worth the upgrade every time: napkins, glassware, and… CHAIRS! We feel super passionate about chair rentals, see our blog about it HERE.

Service Staff:

Having a wedding in an outdoor venue requires you to hire a professional catering and service staff company to manage various logistics for the wedding day. There is a considerable  amount of trash and cleanup involved in maintaining an outdoor venue and we cannot stress enough the importance of having adequate service staff to be able to manage the various tasks from: setting tables, managing food service, water service, bar, bussing, trash removal, and more.

Sturdy Design Elements:

If you are planning to have an outdoor wedding, be sure to take into account your environment and the weather. If you are planning to do paper menu cards, we recommend incorporating a wrap style napkin fold to help hold them in place in case the wind blows.

We also encourage you to minimize the use of top heavy florals in lightweight vases that can tip over and spill water everywhere. Working with your floral designer and wedding planner to come up with a beautiful design that makes sense for your environment and space can really help complete the look and feel!

Think About Your Guests- Give Them Comfort:

Whether it’s fans at ceremony, a bug spray station near check in, amenities kit in the bathroom, umbrellas in case it rains, or some blankets for when it gets cold, incorporating some thoughtful element to add to some comfort for their experience can go a long way!
