There’s nothing we love more than having your special day feel cozy, intimate, and elevated all at once–and having a backyard wedding in Hawai’i is always the best way to achieve it! Whether you envision your wedding day at a lush and green venue with a birds’ eye view of the south shore, or an lavish estate in the heart of O’ahu’s seven-mile-miracle (a.k.a. North Shore), we think you’ll find yourself at home at one of these one-of-a-kind venues.

Nutridge Estate

With panoramic views of the south shore of Oʻahu, Nutridge Estate offers the best “mountains-meets-island”-vibe that Tantalus has to offer with a charming, historical feel. Located just above the famous lookout, the estate itself captures Old World grandeur, with wooden shingles and rustic chandeliers. With the rolling grass lawn with a bird’s eye view of downtown Honolulu, a lush forest of pine trees, and the estate itself, there is no shortage of dreamy photo-ops for each part of the wedding day.

Hale Wailele Estate

This Big Island estate has definitely stolen our hearts! With marble flooring and columns all around, Kona wood finishes throughout the estate and an expansive view of the Kona coast from the ceremony site–you and your wedding party (and family!) are in for the vacation of a lifetime should you decide to take advantage of the three wings of the house with multiple King suites. Think string lights for your al-fresco reception, dark wood details, and a bird’s eye view of an incredible sunset during your “First Dance.”

Five Unique Hawaiʻi Venues for your Dream Backyard Wedding

Hale Koa Estate // O’ahu Wedding Villa

We’ll call this one, lux meets Lāʻie. The Hale Koa Estate is an architectural marvel situated on the northeast side of Oʻahu that combines the aesthetic of a high-end resort with the laid-back vibe of a Hawaiʻi beach-side property. Have a little vacation getaway with you and your wedding party, or kick them out for a pre-honeymoon honeymoon at this stunning estate.

Ka Laʻi Aloha

With a wraparound porch, koa wood flooring, and situated right on the marina–this quaint backyard venue gives off a serious Nicholas Sparks vibe. Located in Kuliʻouʻou on the south side of Oʻahu, the Ka Laʻi Aloha offers an intimate and magical location that captures the peacefulness of the southeast side of the island. Have your guests sign the wedding book in the front, and come around to the backyard to a picture-perfect backyard wedding with the view of the Koko Crater in the distance.

Dillingham Ranch

Nestled in Mokulēʻia on the North Shore is this historic 2,700-acre property that offers sweeping views of the mountainside as well as the ocean. The estate captures the serenity and charm of old Hawaiʻi with scattered coconut trees, horses and cows grazing the fields, and white sandy beaches. With eight guest rooms and for your wedding party and family to stay in, we’d like to think of this venue as more of a getaway vacation (or staycation!) for you and your loved ones.
