Outdoor weddings have our hearts for more than a couple of obvious reasons (if you couldn’t tell from our Instagram feed)–but we think that other than the aesthetics, there are so many other reasons that having an outdoor wedding in Hawaiʻi should be at the top of your wedding wish list.

Here are our top 5 reasons to have your celebration in the islands:

A natural muse

One of the first components we take into account when we dream up your wedding design is your venue. Taking inspiration from the landscape is ALWAYS one of our favorite ways to incorporate earthy, and naturally elegant details into your design. If your outdoor venue is lush with deep greens, we love adding in a pop of color or white details as a bold juxtaposition to your space. If your venue has more neutral tones to it, one of the most elegant ways to play with the space is to keep with the theme and think about having a blush, beige, or soft earth tones to add to the ethereal vibe.

More months in the year to hold your celebration!

Trust us when we say that any month is a great time to have your wedding on the islands. Yes, some months might be more prone to a little rain, but for the most part, you can expect the temperature to be around 75–85 degrees during the day, and dip to a milder 70–75 degrees at night, year round. Plus, we’ve always heard a little rain supposed to be good luck on your wedding day!

Giving your guests (and yourself!) a once-in-a-lifetime experience (and a little excuse to vacay!)

If you’re living on the mainland (or in another country), odds are at least some of your guests haven’t been to the islands before! What better way to let them experience Hawaiʻi (in all of its natural beauty) than holding your wedding in the great outdoors. And major plus, having a wedding in the islands means that your guests will have to make a little vacation out of it–something we think anyone could use a little bit more of!

Natural lighting

A photographerʻs best friend is good lighting–and by having an outdoor wedding you will definitely have no shortage of that (until the stars take over, of course). Natural lighting is always ideal when it comes to wedding photos, and whether you are looking forward to those airy ceremony photos or dreamy sunset cocktail-hour photos, we think you absolutely canʻt go wrong with the outdoors as your landscape.

Perfect for larger parties (and for social distancing!)

Odds are if youʻre having an outdoor wedding, there will be a lot more room for your guests to decide whether they prefer to mingle and roam around or stay in their close group of friends. We understand that some might feel more comfortable in an open-air space where they can socially distance, so having an outdoor wedding can give your guests that safe (and undeniably beautiful) space on your special day.
