Picture-Perfect and Crowd-Pleasing Pūpū for Your Cocktail Hour
Aside from the overflowing blooms, intricate styling details, and unforgettable memories that’ll be made, one thing that we know that you and your guests will definitely look forward to is the food.
When it comes to pūpū (Hawaiian word for “appetizers“), we don’t play around. We would like to think that the styling possibilities are ENDLESS with a pūpū platter: from a giant charcuterie spread or mini poke bowls with the freshest ahi to share the local flavors with your guests. Think about you and your love’s go-to appy orders whenever you go to a restaurant–whether its a plate of truffle fries or the smoked marlin dip–and grab inspiration from there. Your special day should include all things you love, and your favorite foods should absolutely be one of them.
Here are our favorite, picture-perfect pūpū that we think you (and your guests) will love
Ahi Tacos
They’re crispy, colorful, and are a perfect modern twist with an authentic local staple: poke. If you’ve ever had poke nachos, poke with rice, or haven’t had poke before, this is a surprisingly wonderful way to have the deliciously marinated fresh fish, in a finger-friendly way.
Taro Sliders
If you’re a Kings Hawaiian roll fan, you’re in for a treat. Made with taro (or poi) extract, these buns are perfectly semi-sweet, and naturally purple! Whether you choose to have a classic beef slider, turkey, salmon, or black bean, let your caterer know that you want some of these after your post-ceremony photoshoot–there’s a big possibility there won’t be any left post-cocktail hour!
Vietnamese Spring Rolls
Colorful, oh-so-refreshing, and an easy veggie option, we thought these spring rolls were a perfect treat for a warm afternoon wedding. Made with rice noodles, fresh bean sprouts, carrots, lettuce, and your choice of protein, these cute bites are a great healthy option before the main course and desserts roll in.
Mini Poke Bowls
A definite crowd favorite!! We loved these cute little spicy ahi bowls (as well as the seared salmon bowls!) from Poke Stop. If you have a lot of guests coming from out-of-town (or local guests, too!), they’ll definitely appreciate some authentic, freshly-marinated poke from Chef Elmer.
Colorful Charcuterie Spread
The options are TRULY endless here! Have your favorite cheeses, local fruits and jams, and beautiful breads, crackers, and tapenades all on one beautifully styled table for a picture-perfect spread that everyone can enjoy. Beautiful and delectable, we think you really can’t go wrong with a table like this.
