A Styled Elopements Story: The Last Minute Elopement in Honolulu

A hiccup with a visa led two international lovebirds to have a super last minute elopement that was just uniquely them: from Elvis love ballads as they walked down the aisle to tattoos in the evening to permanently mark their unforgettable wedding day.

A Styled Elopements Story: The Last Minute Elopement in Honolulu

We come back to this story every time because it not only embodies the boundless, passionate Styled Elopements love we live for, but it also is what inspired us to create this collection in the first place.

When we first virtually met Sean and Haley, we were instantly drawn to their giddy and laidback personality. Sean is Australian and Haley is American, and they wanted to hold a private elopement in Hawaiʻi so that their families could meet for the first time. Long story short, Sean had a small hiccup with his Australian visa, preventing them from holding their small elopement with their loved ones.

Fast forward a month, we hear from Haley that they’re flying to Hawaiʻi the next day, and would absolutely love if they could hold a private elopement the day they flew in–as it marked their one year from getting engaged.

We hopped on a call with the two of them to get an idea of what they had in mind, and she let us know that she didn’t really need a photographer or florals–just assistance with getting the marriage license and an officiant. She just told us that she loves Elvis and asked us if there was any way we could tie that in. From seeing her Instagram and seeing a few things she booked for her March 2020 wedding, we knew she loved the mid-century modern look, disco balls, and dried florals.

In 24-hours, we booked an officiant, made her a bouquet and leis, created ceremony florals, arranged her marriage license, and planned the elopement at Magic Island (in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Rainbow tower–which is where Elvis stayed at when visiting Hawaiʻi). Though Haley said she didn't need a photographer, we asked Sheyanne (of @sheytography) to come and take a few photos so that they could look back at this special day.

What we fell in love with was the sheer trust that Haley and Sean put in our team to create something–even though it was completely last minute–that was uniquely them. We loved that we were able to take care of all of the logistics so that they were able to be fully present and 100% stress-free on their wedding day–something that we always, always strive for.

For The Good truly stepped up for every experience we threw their way, including a less than 24-hour planned styled elopement. These ladies truly delivered and were all hands on deck. They organized the most gorgeous scene on the beach, disco ball flourishing altar, Elvis songs on ukulele, and surprised us with a photographer, Sheyanne. It was untraditional and truly captured us from all of our initial conversations. These ladies went above and beyond their duties and made it possible for us to still have our day when we eloped along with beautiful photos to share with our family and friends.
