5 Cute Unity Ceremony Ideas
Having a slow, moment of reflection during your ceremony can be one of the most beautiful parts of the day–and is also a great way to personalize your own wedding ceremony
It’s no surprise that we absolutely adore finding unique ways to make your wedding speak to your very own love story–and holding a unity ceremony that is special to you and your partner has always held a special place in our hearts. From lighting a unity candle to taking a celebratory shot together, there are so many different ways couples are interpreting this visual symbol of unity.
Here are a few of our favorite unity ceremony ideas that we have seen and loved:
Tree Planting
For the boho lovers who find themselves at peace in nature, we love a tree-planting ceremony where couples can pot a tree or even plant the actual tree that symbolizes the start of a new beautiful chapter in their lives. You can take turns adding soil and watering the tree during the ceremony and then take the tree home, or plant it straight into the ground if you’re having your ceremony in your own space.
Cheers!
A cheers is often a unifying symbol in itself, so why not have it at your own wedding? Creating a cocktail, or sharing a beer with your partner (and your guests!) is such a fun and simple way to get your guests in a celebratory mood right before cocktail hour.
Lei Draping
As a symbol of love, respect, and aloha, the lei exchange is a beautiful common ceremony practice in Hawaiian culture. Grooms usually wear a green maile leaf lei, and brides often wear multiple strands of pink and white pikake. Along with your significant other, leis are also draped on the significant people in your lives who have played a significant part in your life–namely your parents, grandparents, or lifelong friends.
Sand Ceremony
This has been a popular unity ceremony for a while, but we think that adding a personalized twist can make it even that much more special! If you and your partner come from two different places, bring sand from both areas to unite into a special keepsake
Take a Shot!
Because you’re finally married, and it’s time to party!
